Description

Flowliner Bio-Rust

Flowliner Bio-Rust is a safe non toxic bio-degradable compound that will remove light & heavy rust from ferrous metals & steel without damaging the item, unlike, acids, blasting or grinding.

Bio-Rust is perfect for the removal of rust from automotive, motorcycle & marine parts & vessels.

1KG of Bio-Rust will make up to 20 litres of pouring or immersing solution.

1/ Preparation for pouring into a vessel such as a fuel tank.

Prepare the fuel tank by removing any fuel taps, sensors, filters etc. All exits & threads must be protected & sealed to prevent any leakage. Seal with either a blanking plate, cork or wooden dowel. Internal threads can be sealed with an old petrol tap or a blanking plug. Grease the blanking bolt & screw into the inside of the petrol tank to a depth of about 3mm.

The fuel tank must be thoroughly clean making sure that all traces of stale fuel and oil have been removed. Heavily soiled tanks may have to be cleaned with a hot detergent wash to remove grease and oil deposits. On smooth surfaces it is advisable to sand blast or use sharp decking screws to etch the area prior to coating. If your tank is rusty, treat with a rust remover such as FLOWLINER BIO-RUST a biodegradable safe method of treating rusty components.

Mix the FLOWLINER BIO-RUST a ratio of up to 20 parts of hot water to 1 part of FLOWLINER BIO-RUST, as a guide a one kilogram unit of FLOWLINER BIO-RUST will treat up to a 20 to 30 litre tank. When the tank is full leave for 12 to 24 hours do not leave the tank sealed up. It may be necessary to leave the FLOWLINER BIO-RUST to soak for up to a week if severely rusted, checking every 24 hours is advised.

Once the rust has been removed drain the fluid into a plastic container, this can now be saved as a dipping solution for any other rusty items. If any rust is still evident in the tank it can be removed by agitating the tank with some sharp gravel, sand, lengths of small chains or nuts & bolts in a litre of FLOWLINER BIO-RUST, then wash the tank thoroughly with a hot mild detergent wash, a final rinse with a litre of the used Bio-Rust, empty and let this thoroughly dry, this will protect the steel before the coating process. Make sure your tank is perfectly dry especially around any welded seams.

2/ Preparation for immersing part/s into a vessel such as a bucket or plastic water tank.

Ensure that all oil & grease deposits have been thoroughly cleaned with a degreaser as any oil or grease residues will prevent the Bio-Rust for working. Wash/flush the degreaser off thoroughly with hot water.

For general light surface rust deposits mix at 20:1 (20 parts water to 1 part Bio-Rust). For heavily corroded items use a 10:1 solution.

Mix the required amount of Bio-Rust in a plastic vessel (hot water speeds up the process but is not necessary) & place the rusty items in & leave from 2 to 24hrs depending on the severity of the rust - checking periodically to see the progress - no need to leave immersed once the rust has been removed.

Once the rust has been removed wash in clean water & if necessary scrub with a stiff brush to remove any surface deposits.

Dry the dipped item with a forced air dryer (not an airlines cold, damp oily air) ready for paint or lightly coat with ACF-50 to prevent further corrosion occurring - you can degrease/ re-dip/dry in the bio-Rust solution if you want to remove the ACF-50 before painting (ACF-50 does not contain any silicon, water or waxes so is perfect for protection before painting).

Cover the dipping vessel as the solution can be used again until it darkens & looses it effectiveness.

1936 manx grand Prix!!!

I am currently the lucky owner of a 1936 manx grand Prix that came third in the 1936 Ulster grand Prix behind bill beevers and the winner Freddie Frith my bike rider was w.g.wright quite a little reported rider so any information from your viewers would be gratefully received.the bike is very rough after languishing in a leaky shed for fifty years,so rust is abundant and I decided to try the flowliner biorust product, my main incentive was the biodegradable feature as many rust removers use aggressive chemicals which could be dangerous to pets or children ,if abused.Anyhow the product appears to work extremely well with impressive results in quite a short amount of time I don't yet know how long the solution lasts, but it's currently doing its job very well.

Hi Martin a great slice of history, stories of which could well have been passed down a generation or two. Thanks for the revue, I am glad the BIO RUST has done the trick on helping to sympathetically remove the rust from the Manx GP motorcycle. The solution does eventually degrade with use as it neutralises the corrosion. Colin.
